The Application Process

Students from CMC and the other Claremont Colleges apply to become Robert Day Scholars in the fall of their junior year.  The application process consists of selection to advance through three phases.  Note that selection of Scholars in the Class of 2013 has been moved forward from the timing of previous years to support academic and career development planning.  Students studying off-campus are welcome to apply and alternative selection efforts will be made as required.

  • Participate in a Leadership Assessment Exercise
    December 2-4, 2011

The second stage of the application process requires participation in a full-day leadership assessment program on either Friday or Saturday.

  • Participate in a Panel Interview
    January 20, 2012

Finally, applicants participate in interviews with distinguished executives and Claremont faculty. Much like in a job interview, alumni are looking not only at candidates' achievements, but also at their character. Final selection emphasizes applicants who can demonstrate a strong ethical compass, excellent interpersonal communication skills, and a solid sense of judgment.
